Who’s Not Getting Any Oil? …China!

July 7th, 2008 · 1528 Comments

Today I read a story on CNN.com about a boy who was saddened by the fact that his step dad was going to be deployed in Iraq.  I read it and thought “Why is the United States still in Iraq.”   It’s obviously not to stop Iraq or Saddam from creating weapons of mass destruction.  Saddam is dead and Iraq was thoroughly inspected for these weapons and is currently under occupation by the US.   So what’s the real reason for staying there?

Iraq Oil China

Yes it is for oil, but not so that Americans can get cheaper oil, more importantly it’s who won’t get the oil.  Think about it.  China uses 6.93 million barrels/day*, second only to the US.  With Iraqi oil under the US’s control it will be much more difficult for China to obtain the oil that it needs to continue to grow.   China has the land, people and technology to potentially become a superpower and is the only real threat that the U.S. has.

The US is still the most powerful and influential country in the world. After all, the US can start wars in Afghanistan and Iraq without the rest of the world’s permission.  In order to stay on top it is in the US’s best interest to suppress China from gaining power.  One easy way to do that is to control the amount of energy China receives, thus stopping them from growing.

So the soldiers fighting in Iraq are not really trying to bring freedom to the Iraqi people and they’re not even protecting America from terrorism. They are there to make sure America stays in control of the rest of the world.
